Thank you Alderville!

Alderville First Nation: They came, they saw, they educated. The talented members of the Canadian Improv Showcase had the honour of providing instruction to a wonderful group of kids on the Alderville First Nation reserve during the week of July 17th to the 21st. And what a week it was!

“It was a fantastic experience,” commented Creative Director Matthew R. Lawrence. “We worked with as many as 22 kids, ages 7 to 10, and we were able to convey to them the joys of drama and improvisation.”

Joining Mr. Lawrence were long time cast members Adrianne Marcucci and Alan Harrington, as well as one of the group’s newest members Dana Fradkin. Together they used their wide range of experiences and skills to teach the students basic drama skills such as projection and stage presence as well as more advanced skills such as mime, character work and improvisation. They also had the pleasure of showing students the benefit of teamwork and respect. All of this teaching culminated with an end of week performance for the people of the community. This showcase was very well received and all the students had a great, self-esteem building experience.

Overall, the week was a very memorable experience and the members of the Canadian Improv Showcase would jump at the chance of returning to Alderville.
