200 AND STILL GOING!

For Immediate Release                                                                     August 19, 2002

York Region’s premier improv troupe, the Canadian Improv Showcase, performed their 200th show this past weekend as part of the London Fringe Festival.

“It’s a great accomplishment and I can’t wait to perform the next 200 shows,” said creative director and producer Matthew R. Lawrence. “It was a great way to end the festival and we are certainly not going to stop here.”

The group just finished their summer tour by taking part in the 3rd annual event in London, Ontario and it was a huge success. But they are not taking much time off as they continue to perform all over Ontario and continue to promote their wide variety of programmes which can be viewed on their website www.canadianimprovshowcase.com

Mr. Lawrence admits that they are still in search of that illusive network television contract: “it’s still within reach, we just have to keep plugging away. In the meantime we continue to run a programme on Aurora Cable’s channel 10 and we will hopefully expand our market to Rogers Television in the near future. Other than that, our next goal is the 2003 Just for Laughs Festival.” This might seem like an awful lot for such a small group of talented performers, but who would of thought they would of reached the milestone of 200 shows in just under 4 years?

Also worth mentioning is the fact that the group is selectively expanding their talent roster to help meet their scheduling demands, so anyone interested in auditioning for this professional touring company, please contact Mr. Lawrence at (905) 967-0141.
