For Immediate Release

January 30, 2008

GTA: Canada’s premier touring improv company is coming back to Toronto! The Canadian Improv Showcase is bringing their original brand of interactive comedy to the Bad Dog Theatre for one night only on Sunday February 10th.

It’s been well over a year since the troupe has returned to the big city. They have been spending their time focusing on touring and workshops.

“The world of comedy is a very cyclical thing” states Creative Director Matthew R. Lawrence. “Things come in and out of popularity and it can be really tough to attract a live audience. But it seems that people are ready to brace the cold in search of quality entertainment and we’re happy to provide it.”

But this group of talented individuals is coming back to Toronto for a reason: to record their performance for the purpose of submitting themselves for this years Just for Laughs Festival.

“It’s the next logical step for us” added Mr. Lawrence. “We have been touring for 10 years and will celebrate our 500th performance this year; it’s time we got to the next level.”

The group offers a wide range of programmes ranging from workshops for students to corporate customizable entertainment as well as everything in between.

The Canadian Improv Showcase will be at The Bad Dog Theatre at 138 Danforth Avenue on Sunday February 10th. The show begins at 8 pm with the sketch duo The Relative Unknowns as the opening act. Tickets are only $5.00 each and can be reserved by calling: 905-716-9990. Act fast as there is limited seating!
