“We are
thrilled to make our mark in Cookstown” exclaimed Creative Director and
Producer, Matthew R. Lawrence. “As a touring company it is our goal to search
for home theatres all over this great land and we hope to add The Old Town Hall
to our growing list” he added. “It will be great for us to be able to perform
for the locals as many of us have been featured in Cookstown Auto commercials
over the years, so it’s fun to come back!”
The Canadian
Improv Showcase perform short form, or game-style improvisation. A style made
popular by the long running British and American TV series “Whose Line is it
Anyway?” Their shows are interactive, guided by audience suggestions,
participation and are never the same twice. “And unlike other forms of comedy,
we don’t pick on the audience, we’d much rather make fun of ourselves”
commented Mr. Lawrence. They even add to
the mix a healthy dose of Canadianna
often wearing customized hockey jerseys while on stage.
The Canadian
Improv Showcase has been performing for over 13 years and expect to celebrate
their 600th show in 2010. They offer a wide variety of programmes
ranging from workshops to corporate events and everything in between. The cast
is made up of all professional actors, highly recognizable from stage and
screen alike. This will be their first public appearance following their trip
to the Los Angeles Improv Festival, so come see them live before they’re
whisked off back to
