Press Release

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!

For Immediate Release

Ontario: For many athletes’ it is their dream to represent their country on the world’s stage. Well, for one group of performers, it is also their dream to represent their country on the world’s stage, but this time we mean stage literally…

On June 7th, 2011, the Canadian Improv Showcase will do just that: represent Canadian comedy on the world’s stage as part of the 9th Annual Los Angeles Comedy Improv Festival. The event takes place at the prestigious Improv Olympic West, a venue famous for discovering the likes of David Koechner (Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin), Neil Flynn (The Middle), Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live), Keegan Michael Key (MadTV), Andy Dick (Comedy Central Roasts), Mo Collins (MadTV), Larry Joe Campbell (According to Jim) and many more. The festival runs from June 6th to the 11th and this will be the Canadian Improv Showcase’s second visit.

“Last year we learned a lot” said host Matthew R. Lawrence. “We had a phenomenal time last year, and I’m positive this year will be even better!” He added. “Last year we saw the sites and took it all in and this year we’ll take the city by storm and show them why Canadian comedy is like no other!”

Joining Mr. Lawrence will be long time cast members Alan Harrington, Adam Risbridger, Adrianne Marcucci and Peter Nelson. They will bring their whacky, original style of Canadian short-form improv to the Loft Theatre for one show on the second night of the festival. The show starts at 8:00 PM and tickets are $10.00.

So if you’ll be in the Los Angeles area, know anyone in the area or are just looking for an excuse for a long road trip (better leave now, by the way) then check them out and show your support for Canada’s best improv troupe: the Canadian Improv Showcase!
