Programmes

The foundation of everything the Canadian Improv Showcase does is the live show: it is what started it all! Their live performance is an interactive showcase of Canadian talent unlike any other. The format itself, called short-form or game-style, is similar to the popular, long running television series "Whose Line is it Anyway?" The showcase is made up of a collection of short scenes, ranging in length from thirty second to as much as ten minutes. All scenes are unscripted, unrehearsed and guided by audience participation. They're kind of like the silly-putty of the comedy world as they form their show right before your very eyes around whatever suggestions the audience provide. There are also opportunities for volunteers to come up on stage and help in various ways, but it is made clear from the very beginning that CiS is not there to pick on any audience member: they'd much rather pick on each other! The standard performance runs sixty to ninety minutes but, like almost every other aspect of the show, they're flexible. The show itself is very customizable and you'll never see the same show twice!
